Aydin Sengul, Izmir provincial chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) called the mayor of Izmir Aliaga town, Tansu Kaya , and the member of municipal council, Safi Teymur, both from ruling AKP, and asked them not to discuss the corruption claims with the media. A bomb, which was left near a building, detonated when a group of soldiers were passing by in Yuksekova town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. In Semdinli town, one security officer was wounded in a clash between security teams and terrorists.

--WE LOST HADI CAMAN
Hadi Caman, an important Turkish actor, died at the age of 65. Caman had long been suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and had been receiving treatment at a nursing home since May 15.

--INFECTION KILLED
A legal and administrative investigation was opened into the death of 13 babies over 24-hours at Izmir’s Tepecik Hospital. The preliminary results from the autopsies reveal that an infection was found in five of the dead babies. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on the babies deaths: "Premature births are always risky."

--GOOD WORKS IN FILMEKIMI
This year’s Filmekimi (movie festival) will please cinema fans. Woody Allen's Palme d'Or winner "The Class" and 21 recent movies of master directors like Wim Wenders and Hayao Miyazaki will be featured at Filmekimi. The festival will take place at Emek Cinema Hall between Oct.10-16.

--CRISIS TO BE TURNED INTO AN OPPORTUNITY
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said that the reflection of the (economic) crisis to Turkey would be low because corruption was prevented in the country. Erdogan said, "Turkey will overcome this crisis with minimum affect, and walk towards its target with determination. I believe this process will be turned into an opportunity for Turkey."

--KILLER VIRUS
Prof. Recep Ozturk from the Scientific Board, which examined the death of 13 babies within 11 hours at Izmir Tepecik Hospital, released the results of the preliminary examination, and said that an infection in the serum given to the babies was responsible for the deaths.
