The famous Ziga thermal waters in the central Anatolian province of Aksaray are very popular in Turkey for the reported healing capacity of the 46-degree Celsius waters.
The Ziga thermal waters, declared a private environment area by a decision of Cabinet, have great importance in health tourism, said Yusuf Inceer, secretary general of the Aksaray Special Provincial Administration.
Noting that, being rich in minerals, thermal waters are effective in the treatment of rheumatic illnesses, metabolism disorders, eye infections and gynecological problems, İnceer said, Private sector investments that will contribute to the improvement of tourism have been continuing the region. A five-star facility is still under construction, besides another one which already serves.
İnceer said the interest of the private sector in the region is a positive development, adding that investors have applied to the administration for the construction of three new facilities. Bekir Ateş, the first private sector investor in the Ziga thermal waters, said their facility, with 96 beds, is at full capacity.
We receive 10 liters of water per second from the basic source of Ziga. People having serious illnesses say they feel much better after their stay in the facility for one or two weeks. We see that thermal waters heal particularly skin problems. There is such a demand for our thermal waters from all around Turkey that we have no more place to welcome more visitors, said Ateş.
Ateş also pointed out that in recent years the season has been starting earlier and closing later. He said he believes new investments in the area will ensure that Aksaray will do even better in thermal tourism. Aksaray, especially Ziga, will make its name heard all around the world in terms of healing water, he added.
